User Instructions
The worlds first dual-sided rotor surfacing tool with replaceable pads.
The worlds first dual-sided rotor surfacing tool with replaceable pads.
Important Safety Warnings – Read Before Use
This tool uses an (electric drill) and spins at high speed. Improper use can damage your bicycle, wheel, rotor, pads, or cause injury.
Never apply excessive pressure — pushing too hard can bend the rotor, damage the wheel, or harm the bike.
Wear safety glasses, dust mask, and gloves. Work in a well-ventilated area.
Do not use cracked, severely warped, or damaged rotors.
This is a maintenance tool only — not a replacement for professional brake service.
Test brakes thoroughly in a safe area after use.
What You Need
Discy-Pro tool
Variable-speed electric drill or Impact driver
Replaceable DiscY-Pads
Brake cleaner or isopropyl alcohol
Clean cloths
Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Prepare the Rotor
- Clean the disc rotor thoroughly with brake cleaner or isopropyl alcohol to remove dirt, grease, and old glaze.
- **Dry the rotor completely** before starting. This reduces contamination of the pads and ensures a better finish.
2. Install the DiscY-Pads
- Remove the rubber stopper from the tool.
- Insert the replaceable abrasive pads into the slots on both sides. Ensure they are seated correctly.
- Re-insert the rubber stopper to secure the pads.
3. Position the Tool on the Bike
- Place the bike on a stable stand.
- Open the Discy-Pro and position it over the disc rotor so the pads contact **both sides** evenly.
- **Make sure the tool is perfectly aligned** with the disc rotor (centered and square). Misalignment can cause uneven surfacing or damage.
- Use the **adjustable tension/pressure control** to set a light pressure. Always start with the lowest setting.
4. Surfacing Process
- Secure the tool’s drive shaft firmly in the drill chuck.
- Hold the tool steady with both hands.
- **Start the drill at a slow speed** to gently get the wheel spinning.
- Once the wheel is rotating smoothly, gradually increase to a **faster (medium) speed**.
- Apply **light, consistent pressure** only. Move the tool slightly in and out across the rotor surface for an even finish.
- Surfacing time: 10–30 seconds per pass. Stop and check progress regularly. Do not overdo it.
5. Clean Up and Inspect
- Stop the drill and remove the tool.
- Wipe the rotor clean of all dust.
- Spin the wheel by hand and visually inspect the fresh surface.
- Repeat if needed with light pressure.
6. Test the Brakes
- Reassemble anything you moved.
- Bed in the brakes with several gentle stops from low speed.
- Test braking carefully before normal riding. Expect improved performance and reduced noise.
Tips for Best Results
- Clean and dry rotor = cleaner pads and better finish.
- Light pressure and proper alignment give the best “serviced” look.
- Replace pads when worn for consistent performance.
- Dual-sided design surfaces both sides at once — very efficient.
Troubleshooting
- Uneven surface → Re-align tool and ensure even pressure.
- Wheel stops or vibrates → Reduce pressure and slow the drill.
- Excessive dust → Better cleaning before use helps.
